Author Interview: Leto

In our continuing series of interviews of AudioJungle authors, this week we meet…
Leto (Tomislav Letinic)
1. Tell us a little bit about yourself. Where are you from, what do you do for a living?
I come from Zadar, a beautiful old town from Croatia. My full time job is maintaining the elevators.
2. How long have you been composing music and what got you started producing?
My love for the music started when I was a kid, now I’m making music for almost 8 years and I can’t stop.
3. Do you play any instruments? Do you have any formal music training?
I play acoustic, electric and bass guitar, a bit of synthesizer. I’m self taught, so no…
4. Could you describe to us your home studio and the equipment and software you typically use to produce audio?
My home studio is not so big and I don’t have any huge equipment but I’m not complaining. For me is enough.
I’ve learned a lot of programs, but at the moment I mostly use:
- Music Maker,
- Techno Ejay 4 and 5,
- Dance Ejay 7,
- Reason and
- Sound Forge 9.
5. Could you tell us a bit about how you typically compose and then produce your audio? Describe your creative process.
In my spare time I try to create as much as possible. I listen to my samples in the music library and seek for inspiration, that’s the hard part.
Once I have an idea, everything else is like a sweet song. I make my own sounds, I cut, change, combine and adjust and then…it all becomes a song.
6. What genre of music do you enjoy producing for and why?
Techno and house, cause that’s my beat … and also I like making powerful music for movies.
7. What kind of things inspire you to create music? Do you have any musical influences?
I’m all about the rhythm. I simply listen… to commercials, movies, DJs and all kind of sounds that surround me.
8. What genres of music do you listen to in your spare time? Do you have any favorite bands or artists?
I realized that every genre of music has a masterpiece worth listening to, but mostly I like techno cause like I said I’m all about the rhythm. Definitely my kind of guy is Carl Cox.
9. What is your advice to other AudioJungle authors regarding how to create a successful portfolio of audio?
For a successful portofolio it’s best to check Adrian’s article on AudioJungle, “60 Ways to Make an Arrangement Richer“. For audio you have to be persistent, hardworking and have a lot of spare time. I forgot to mention talent.
10. What do you do to market your AudioJungle files?
I’m writing this interview. Unfortunately that’s about it. (Please help me!)
11. What are your three favorite tracks in your AudioJungle portfolio and why do you like them?
My dream with vocal gives me a feeling of pleasure and peace.

12. Apart from yourself, who is your favorite AudioJungle author and why do you like them?
One word: Solidbeats! He has a great feeling for rhythm.
13. If you could change anything about AudioJungle, what would it be?
I’m not here for very long, and for now I feel welcomed and can’t find any flaws.
14. Could you tell us about some of your audio projects outside of AudioJungle? What have been some of your biggest audio successes so far?
Though I’m in music for a very long time, I’ve never tried to promote my music anywhere… till I found AudioJungle.
15. When you aren’t busy creating music, what do you like to do in your spare time?
I spend it with my wife.
