By Popular Demand: The Resale Licence

We have been getting a LOT of requests from buyers wanting a licence to use files in products for resale, so we’ve made one!

The licence is called the Single Use Conditional Resale Permitted Licence ["Conditional Resale"]. You can read about it here:

http://audiojungle.net/legal/licences

Right now every author is automatically opted-out, so you will need to opt in if you wish to sell your files under this licence (see instructions below).

The Conditional Resale licence allows a file to be used in an item for resale, and it’s priced at 50 times the cost of a standard single use licence.

So for instance, you could buy this licence if you wanted to:

  1. Put a GraphicRiver graphic on a t-shirt for sale in a store.
  2. Put a FlashDen preloader into a Flash theme for sale.
  3. Put a VideoHive video and an AudioJungle loop into software that would allow people to make their own custom video with music.
  4. Put a ThemeForest theme into software that would allow people to create intranets.

How Do I Opt-In?

If you wish to offer your file under this licence, all you need to do is:

  1. Go to your Account page.
  2. Go the the Edit tab.
  3. Click on Item Licences.
  4. Click the boxes next to the licence name to opt-in.
  5. Press Save!

If you have any questions support will be happy to answer them!

Author Salute: Musicant

Author Salute

This week’s salute goes to a fairly new AudioJungle author Musicant, who made 28 sales in June.

Musicant is an exclusive AudioJungle author from the Ukraine. They have recently become an AudioJungle author in May 2009, and have uploaded 18 items, made 63 sales, and achieved an average rating of Star_onStar_onStar_onStar_onStar_on.

Best Selling Tracks: Beautiful Worlds and Jump In The Sky

Their best selling track is a lyrical composition, Beautiful Worlds, a laid back track featuring drums and electric guitar, with a great bass track. This track has had 37 sales in just a month.

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

Musicant’s second best seller is Jump in the Sky, which has a rock feel, and again features electric guitar and drums, with some use of organ. Musicant describes it as a “cheerful, youth composition”.

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

Other Tracks

Here are two more of Musicant’s tracks that I enjoyed:

Last Night is a lyrical composition that features sentimental electric guitar melodies. It starts with a sparse ambient feel, then the rhythm and bass line come in. The track makes good use of reverb and delay, and is quite different to some of Musicant’s other tracks.

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

Don’t Go starts very laid back, with some guitar arpeggios with strings in the background. A third of the way through the track it changes up, as a strummed acoustic guitar then electric lead and bass guitars come in and the rhythm builds. The dynamics change up and down several times through the track.

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

Congratulations, Musicant. I enjoy your unique style and blend of instruments.

Discover Logic Pro

Discover Logic Pro

Sorry if I disapoint the Trekkies Google has sent this way, but this article isn’t about learning Vulcan philosophy – it’s about Logic Pro, a digital audio workstation which is part of Apple’s music production suite, Logic Studio. If you’re a Logic fan, let us know why in the comments.

Logic Pro costs around USD$500 and is currently at version 9. It only works on Macs, so if you’re a Windows user your interest may start to wane. If you’re a Mac user, though, this is definitely one to look at. (more…)

Target/Converse Video Finalist Uses AudioJungle Music

Ben Redmond, a Web graphic designer and post production assistant from Los Angeles, alerted us in the AudioJungle forums yesterday about a short film competition he entered that uses audio from AudioJungle. The producer of the winning video will win a cool $10,000.

The short film is called First Charitable Act and the audio used in the film is called Fly’n Sun – Hyper Chill and Atmosphere by AudioJungle author SoundProdigy.

This is a great example of how effective AudioJungle audio can be for any type of media, particularly video and film, as Ben explains:

“I like AudioJungle’s broad selection – I seem to find a sound for every project I’m working on here. I need affordable licensed music for all the projects I work on and I always find the quality of the compositions exceed my expectations. I like supporting a community of musicians who seem to have a similar approach to their craft that I do.”

Ben uses Adobe After Effects and Audacity for most of his film and audio editing. He has also found and purchased other audio on AudioJungle in the past:

“I used “Spinach Drones” by robotmilk for another contest video I created. I’m constantly looking for new pieces of audio to add to my bookmarks so that I can refer back to them when I’m working on new projects. I will definitely be using AudioJungle in the future!”

You can support Ben and SoundProdigy by voting for First Charitable Act. But please hurry! Voting ends tomorrow, July 25th.

Author Interview: Soundroll

This week in our series of interviews of AudioJungle authors, we meet…

Soundroll (Dmitry Lifshitz)

1. Tell us a little bit about yourself. Where are you from, what do you do for a living?

I Was born in Russia, raised to Israel in 1992, and now live in Tel-Aviv. I am a sound engineer, working as a freelancer in a few post production studios besides producing music for commercials, adverts, corporate videos in Israel, US and England.  I also compose for music libraries on exclusive basis, and play synth in the metal Yiddish band “Gevolt”.

Soundroll2. How long have you been composing music and what got you started producing?

Before I bought my first computer in 2000, I was playing guitar in a punk band, where I was responsible for writing music (not too hard to write and play few riffs for punk music :) ). Then I started getting interested in samplers, synthesis, electronic music, and produced few electronics tracks. Then I studied sound and began working as a sound engineer.

Audio Gadgets: Logitech Wireless Drum Controller for Guitar Hero

Audio Gadgets: Logitech Wireless Drum Controller for Guitar Hero

My son Joey turned 13 this week, and his favorite present was Guitar Hero. He’s been playing it endlessly, and has beat me every time. Guitar Hero is a popular game – almost every shop I phoned had sold out of stock, especially for the Wii version. And like most games, it’s very addictive.

So far we only have guitar controllers, but the family is keen to get the World Tour set eventually, including guitar, drums and microphone. It’s good to see the family getting together over something musical.

If you’ve never played the game, the idea is to play the guitar controller as accurately and in time as possible along with the guitar solos in the music you selected. The display on the TV shows the color-coded notes you need to play running down the guitar neck. Actually, it reminds me a bit of guitar tab rotated 90 degrees.

I’m sure that the game help with timing, but I think it has little value in learning to play real musical instruments. After all, on the guitar controller you are just pressing buttons, not fingering frets and picking strings. Then I noticed Logitech’s up-and-coming drum controller, which looks a lot more like a real electronic drum kit.

Coming out for the Playstation 2 and 3, and Xbox 360 (I’ve seen no mention of the Nintendo Wii), the kit features three adjustable drum heads with recessed rims, two cymbal pads, and a kick pedal with an adjustable spring. The batteries are reported to last 50 hours, and the price is set at $229.99 in the US. It should be available in the next few weeks, depending on which country you live in.

It looks like this kit may give a fairly authentic drum playing experience, and could be used to teach the kids how to play in a fun, addictive way. I’ll add it to the shopping list, and hope it becomes available for the Wii as well.
