Licensing options are here!

There’s just so much great content on the Envato Marketplaces these days, closing on 20,000 different items. All those items means there’s many, many different uses for them. So we’ve been working to create ways for buyers to purchase different types of licenses for use. Having multiple licensing options means buyers can get exactly what they need, and for authors it means greater potential earnings!

To begin with we’re adding a new multiple use license that means you pay less to get more usage out of an item. Here’s how it works:

1) Buy a Standard Single Use License.
This is the same license as the old default license, to be used when you wish to purchase a file to use on a single project.

2) Buy a 10 Project License for just 3 x the cost of a Single Use License.
A 10 project license means you can use the same file over and over – up to ten times – without having to buy it again and again.

For more information on what each of these license types entails, please visit this page. If you have any queries or concerns at all, please contact support who will be happy to assist you.

Stay tuned for more useful license types in the future.

Thanks and happy shopping!

Not too sure this translates to Audiojungle very well…at all…

People are buying music for use in film/game/presentations etc. These licenses need to be tailored to fit Audiojungle – they currently only suit flash files and other online media files.

Emmett — as Cyan says these are just to begin with and we’ll have site-specific licenses in the future, but there are plenty of cases where a license to use a file in multiple projects are useful, especially in the sound effects department. If you’re a filmmaker or game developer, you want to be able to reuse sound effects as much as possible, or if you bought thematic music, you’ll want to use it in any spin-off or sequel material. There are better-suited ideas specific to AudioJungle, but the 10 project license is a good start, one that is useful to a very large chunk of our buyers.

Thats true about the sound effects actually – didn’t think about that one!

Yea its good to have these licenses here – just looking forward to more site specific ones :D

That is really sweet stuff! The site license is… just wow, is it really okay to put them at 50x? I mean, if a standard license can be used (potentially) in a Triple A game, which would sell to millions (they can have unlimited copies), why would a website license, require 50 that?

I strongly suspect another Source Files sales figures kind of deal there to be honest. Still, I could very well be wrong, i’m not a marketing or licensing guru.

  • Joel says:

Not sure what you’re referring to, Selcuk? The 10 project license costs three times the price of a single use license.

  • Selcuk says:

there was a page somewhere that had the licensing types, and one of the three said site license, which was marked at 50x the original price. I’m just wondering what a site license is exactly, and why it’s worth so much.

  • Emmett says:

Ok I understand what you’re saying. Basically if a standard license can be used in a multi-million copy selling game (for $10) why does a web license cost most, but yet would be distributed less?

I’m not sure a standard license does cover that, but I see what you’re saying

I think a better way for audio would be these:

    Private Use

    Public Use

    Commercial Use

    Just a thought…

  • Selcuk says:

Personal use license I think is a fantastic idea. I think a lot of songs here would be great on a personal listening basis.

Great to see some news on this matter …..

Like the rest of the guys I really look forward to license suited for audio ….

    All the best

  • Joel says:

Emmett, can’t say I know anything about the web license — I only discovered it now ;) . I’d say it’s a ThemeForest thing or I’d know more about it, and probably best to ignore it from the AudioJungle point of view for now.
